Be Kind, Be Brave, Be You

Y4 Calshot Trip 2025

At the beginning of May, our Year 4 pupils visited Calshot Activity Centre for two nights as their residential in lower school. From the moment they arrived, it was a fully packed schedule of activities, games (and food one pupil told me), until the moment they returned happy and tired.

The activities all included some aspect of aiming for excellence and pushing themselves to learn and succeed. Our pupils took part in skiing on the dry ski slope there, and it was an instant hit. Pupils learnt how to move with skis on and how to control their descent down the slope, something that requires an enormous amount of concentration and courage.

Kayaking was another activity that was new to so many of our pupils. Kitted up in the wetsuit and buoyancy aid, they went out into the bay and learnt about paddling techniques.

Other tasks they took part in included the climbing wall, crate stacking, team swing, ringo, beach combing and games.

Pupils stayed in groups in the dormitory on site and ate together in the canteen. Food offered included full English or American breakfasts, pasta, salad, chicken burgers and roast dinners.

Pupils have told us that:

It was magnificent!

‘The kayaking scared me at first, but then I had a go and wanted to do it more’

‘I loved going skiing because it was something I really wanted to try.’

‘The team swing was brilliant because I love heights!’

Please see some lovely photos of the trip below.
